Avocado Pesto Pasta (Can be prepared for vegans) Ingredients: 1 pound linguine (Vegan Option:  Sam Mills 100% Corn Pasta - Gluten-free) 1 bunch fresh basil, reserve some leaves for garnish ½ cup pine nuts 2 avocados, pitted and peeled 2 tablespoons lemon juice 3 cloves garlic ½ cup olive oil Sea salt Freshly ground black pepper 1 cup halved cherry tomatoes or sliced sun-dried tomatoes (optional).I need this is my life. Can’t wait to make this, aggghhh.

This is all we talked about at work today. Turns out that a lot more of my friends ended up downtown yesterday as well, which makes me really happy.

NATO Protests

I’ve been downtown all day. It’s been peaceful but with a horrifying overtone because of the immense amount of riot police and other officers. It’s scary right now. Riot cops are buckling their helmets.

Don’t watch the news, get on social media. The news is calling these people anarchists and troublemakers. “These people” are us.

This is the saddest thing I have ever seen. Fuck the tyrants. Fuck the over reaction from the police. Fuck the tear gas and the cannons and the lines of empty busses on the streets to hold the arrested. Fuck NATO for bringing this the city I love. 

I’m emotional. I’ve read and seen the things, but never have experienced them to the extent I have today. I feel like part of my innocence has been taken away. Logically, I knew about all of it, but admittedly put it in the back of my mind. I can’t anymore.

Stay safe tonight, Chicago. I love you.
